Navigate the different date selections

You can set different date selections in budgets and reports:
  • Showed months
  • Model start month
  • Last closed month (actuals)
  • Month range for the total column
  • Month range for each chart/dashboard

Showed months

The date selection in the upper right corner lets you determine what months to include in your view. This setting will not impact any formulas.
Showed months

Model start month

Set your model start date by selecting which month to pull actuals data up to. From here, you can create forecasts that reference back to actuals data.

Last Closed Month (Actuals)

You can set your Last closed month in Actuals, which indicates the latest month that you currently have actuals up to. This setting is used to compare budget vs. actuals for months after your model start date.
Last closed month

Month range for the total column

Determines the month range to aggregate values for. The title of the column will automatically update based on your date selection.

Month range for each chart/dashboard

Determines the month range of all charts in a specific dashboard. If you wish to have charts that show different ranges, you can create multiple dashboards.
Dashboard dates
This makes it easy to chart lines for both budget and actuals.
